Gurpreet came to Cyprus in 2018 with a work visa. After she became pregnant, she decided to return to India so that she could live with her mother who would help her with the pregnancy and with raising her child.
She registered to the AVRR programme of the IOM during her sixth month of pregnancy. She was married but had no communication with her husband who lives in Canada. Her plan was to raise her child alone with help of her mother in Khemkaran, a small village without any significant work opportunities.
The reintegration assistance she received concerned medical support for her pregnancy. She needed this assistance as she had no financial means and her mother was unemployed.
Gurpreet was very satisfied with all the assistance received from IOM. She encountered no issues in receiving the assistance and it covered all the necessary costs for her the gynecological examinations and birth costs.
